Metal forged by hand.
Made to last.
Bespoke metalwork · Somerset, England
Every piece I make begins at the forge — coal, fire, and metal shaped by hand using techniques passed down through centuries of blacksmithing. I'm Zach Etheridge, a blacksmith based in Somerset, England who believes in making things properly.
From decorative hooks and architectural ironwork to one-of-a-kind bespoke commissions — each piece carries the marks of honest making.
I normally find my inspiration from things like Pinterest, but I also watch a lot of videos about blacksmithing, which helps me come up with design ideas. I usually combine elements I've seen in other projects or in videos.
Depending on the needs of a project I sometimes source metal from a local scrapyards - especially rebar for hooks. However, I also buy new metal, as scrapyards don't always have what I need. Occasionally, I'm also given metal, which is very useful.
Once the project is finished, I apply a finish called 'Forge Finish', adjusting it depending on the piece. For example, I give hooks a shiny & glossy finish, while items like candle holders receive a darker finish.
Whether you have a clear vision or just a rough idea, get in touch and we'll work it out together. Every commission starts with a conversation.
